Iron sponge powder is used professionally in metal processing and chemical applications such as catalysis or desulfurization as well as by hobbyists (e.g. for visualizing magnetic fields or simple experiments).

- Typically the iron content is 99% purity.
- The structure is porous, with a slightly sponge-like consistency.
- Grain size d50 = approx. 50µm
- The reactive surfaces are useful for chemical reactions during processing.
- Very good compressibility.
