Nanographite / Graphene
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are extremely thin tubes made of carbon in crystalline form, the diameter of the tubes is in the nanometer range.
Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) have a diameter of approximately 0.5-2.0 nanometers, which is about 100,000 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair.
Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) consist of interleaved single-walled carbon nanotubes in a tube-in-tube structure.
Carbon nanotubes can exhibit remarkable properties, such as exceptional tensile strength and thermal conductivity, due to their nanostructure and the strength of the bonds between the carbon atoms. Most nanotubes have excellent electrical conductivity, and modified CNTs can also act as semiconductors. Carbon nanotubes can also be chemically modified.
Due to their special properties, CNTs are already being used in many areas of technology, e.g. in electronics, optics, composite materials (as a replacement or supplement to carbon fibers) and above all to increase conductivity in active masses of batteries or in polymers / dispersions, etc.
